RideACycle Foundation
The RideACycle Foundation wants to encourage cycling – as a form of recreation, sport and as a means to commute to work. One day it hopes to design fundraisers through cycling for a variety of charities.
The RideACycle Foundation will lobby for the rights of cyclists and for laws that offer protection to cyclists through dedicated cycling lanes as well as through support for safety regulations. We hope to work with the government administration to bring about change aimed at encouraging cycling in our cities.
Amongst the activities the foundation plans to undertake are several fun events like a cycle treasure hunt, off road rides for children, dirt track races, and bicycle maintenance workshops.
However, one of the first campaigns that the RideACycle Foundation will undertake is promoting responsible and safe behaviour within the cycling community.
Would be glad to cycle-pool with a few like minded individuals in Mysore

January 29th, 2009 at 12:03 amI am 66 years old. Daily I use the bicycle for atleast 10 Km to to to swimming pool and back to my residence. I won gold, silver and bronze medals in various State/South Zone and National events and I have passed the trials for English Channel Relay.
I wish to be a part of RideACycle Movement.

July 30th, 2009 at 3:44 amI’ve been wanting to cycle to work for a long time now but am facing resistance from my family because of the lack of safety for cyclists on our roads. I’m very fond of cycling and would love to hear about your initiatives on improving road safety for cyclists.
September 15th, 2009 at 1:09 amIt is very nice to see this initiative as countries like Netherlands have dedicated cycle track through out the country.
Today I feel like cycling, but not doing it because of the heavy trucks and self-important car drivers who think that the road belongs to them..I dont want to die early..so I keep pushing this idea out of my mind.
I would be very happy if thus initiative is fruitful and would definitely join…ofcourse with the cycle.
September 15th, 2009 at 2:37 amIts great to see such initiative for cyclers. I started commute to work by cycle for past two weeks and will continue. Still feel bit risky on these motor road.
No big malls have parking facility for cycle. Eg. Forum mall doesnt allow cycles. This discourages cyclers.
Can see more cyclers (Environment Friends) if road safety provided.
September 30th, 2009 at 1:11 pmExcellent and much needed initiative..
I use cycle to work. Its a pollution free, cost saving, cheap, healthy and green alternative for commuting.
Based on the my experience with using the cycle, major concern is of safety. There is a serious lack of pavements fit for cycling in Bangalore. Secondly, Pick and drop cycle points at BMTC Transit centres would help a great deal to use multi-form transport.
